Take a chance On love part 1

Take a chance On love  part 1

It was the holidays again, but I was still in my room reading novels and doing whatever I regarded as my hobby. Every day to me was the same, even the word ‘holidays’ made no difference to me because I just loved reading and locking myself in my room and writing my stories.

Take a chance On love  part 1

I bored some people, but then no one would stop me from doing what I loved, my brothers began to tell me that I would go mad soon because I never gave myself and the books a break, I just kept on reading. What they said cared me a bit though. What I was doing irritated them because it was the holidays and they didn’t want to be around any papers or books, they wanted to avoid any piece of writings.

So, they spend most of their time outdoors looking for girls and left me alone in the room, which I did not mind because there was peace in the room. My brothers loved girls, they tried their best to influence me with the same behaviour, but I wasn’t interested in anything they offered, because of our different personalities, we never agreed on things, even the choices we made differed.

On the next day, which was Sunday, we got new visitors in the neighbourhood. They were two beautiful girls, both tall and slender. My brothers, as usual, never hesitated to take the opportunity of asking them out on their first arrival. They did this because they were friends with the aunty who brought them, and with whom those girls visited.

My brother P.J and his friend were now regularly visiting them. I wasn’t noticed and I hadn’t noticed them either because I usually stayed indoors. I only saw them by a glimpse. The neighbours’ door was facing my door, so I was now shy of coming out because they would see me. Since we haven’t had visitors in our neighbourhood in a long time (especially fresh young girls) I was interested in getting to know everything about the two visitors that my brother and his friend, Themba, embraced so much. When I glimpsed them, I saw beauty, but quickly went inside the house and closed the door.

From the disappointment on my brother’s face, I could see that he had run out of luck with the girls. He told me when he’d asked the dark, tall girl out on a date, she told him to back off.

“Lihle, I would’ve gotten Maphindi if it were not for that aunt of hers who told her that I like girls. If not for her, Maphindi would have been one of my girlfriend’s by now.”

I knew something like that would happen. My brother has a reputation for being a womaniser in our neighbourhood.

While my brother got nowhere with Maphindi, my brother’s friend, Thembani, was also trying his luck with the other girl, the yellow bone, but he too got a big fat ‘no’.

As we were getting ready for bed, I asked my brother what language the girls spoke, because they seemed to have an attitude, not only from what my brother told me but from their facial expressions too.

“Did you talk to Maphindi?” My brother asked.

“No I’m just saying I saw the way they look, I haven’t said a word to them.”

“You’re a coward, Lihle.” my brother added.
